The Best of Classical Work for
Oboe and Piano
Sebastian Roth (Piano) and Alexander Dafov
(Oboe) present this upcoming EP.
The idea of the chamber music program we toured with throughout
Bulgaria and Germany is to show our audience rare work and to show how
adaptations for different instruments open new perspectives on the
interpretations and the musical experience. We recorded the cd in the
chamber music hall “Bulgaria” in Sofia.
You'll be able to hear some samples soon.
The EP is in preparation. So stay tuned.

The
compositions presented here are partly adaptations of original work,
which offer a greater range for interpretations to be enjoyed by the
performers and the audience as well. One good example is W. A. Mozart's
Quartett for String Trio and Oboe, F major adapted for Oboe and piano.
Similar is the case with the "Allegro" from the Trio Sonata
for Organ,
C Major by J.S. Bach. It is a very complex Kontrapunkt composition. All
three parts, in this case the left and right hand and the feet are
playing against one another in a completely autonomous way. The
adaptation for Oboe and Piano tcreates a puzzling effect, like to look
in a kaleidoscope.
A. Pasculli, a Paganini on the Oboe for his time, wrote virtuoso
compositions where he use famous opera parts and staged himself as an
Oboe acrobat on stage in Italy around 1900. We play here his
"Fantasia", an adaptation of the Opera "Poliuto" by G. Donizetti.
After World War 2 F. Poulenc and later on E. Bozza created
a specific
sound vision for both instruments (Oboe and Piano), which used to be
handled mostly as solo instruments. They treated them as a chamber
ensemble, each in his own way.
Disregarding the sequence of the movements Poulenc mixed
traditional
styles. Bozza incorporated Jazz. The result is impressionist chamber
music.
